“At the Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina expects to strengthen the multilateral trade system and to achieve positive results for inclusive growth, development and job creation in Argentina,” Foreign Minister Faurie stated this afternoon during an information meeting held at the Golden Room of the Palacio San Martín to address topics relating to Civil Society as a part of the preparatory activities for the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference. “We reaffirm our willingness to maintain dialogue with Civil Society, in order to reach agreements that take into consideration all views in a balanced and inclusive fashion,” he added.

Faurie chaired the meeting with Susana Malcorra, the President of the 11th WTO Conference to be held in Argentina on 10-13 December, who stated: “In my view, there has been an evolution in understanding on the part of WTO members, towards recognizing the fact that a rules-based system is necessary. I think that the first outcome of the Buenos Aires Conference should be the firm belief that the WTO is an essential organization to strengthen 21st century trade, which will prove to be far more dynamic than that of the 20th century.”
