The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Agroindustry, with the support of the Argentine Embassy in Colombia, organized a mission of the food sector to Bogota.

The main goals of the mission were to boost agroindustrial exports to Colombia and make progress on the negotiations to improve the conditions for access of Argentine products to a market with nearly 50 million consumers.

Over two intense days of work, 13 Argentine companies from the food, agricultural machinery and biotechnology sectors held over 50 business meetings with their Colombian counterparts.

Colombia is a particularly attractive market for Argentine agroindustrial exports not only because of its geographical and cultural proximity, but also because its economy has been growing by more than 3% since 2010.

Furthermore, the signing of the peace agreement between the Colombian government and the FARC will involve the incorporation of millions of cultivable hectares of land into the production activity. Argentina, through its experience and proven agroindustrial capacity, can contribute both agricultural machinery and first rate services and technology to that process in order to improve productivity across Colombia’s various agricultural and farming value chains.
