WHAT SHOCKED US ABOUT CUSCO PERU

No matter what new city we visit in the world, we try to keep our minds open to new and unexpected experiences. We actually really enjoy being shocked and surprised each time we visit a new place. There are aspects of the culture, food, landscape, people, language, etc. that we just can’t foresee, despite all the research we might do. That’s the beauty of travel and we embrace it wholeheartedly!

So what exactly shocked us about CUSCO, PERU? For starters, we’re currently living at sea level in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, so traveling to the high-altitude city of Cusco was a real shock to our bodies. We got out of our taxi, took just a few steps up the stairs, and were completely out of breath. It was crazy! 11,200 ft. of altitude does wild things to the body as we quickly learned.

What else shocked or surprised us about Cusco? To name a few: the adorable Alpacas wandering around Cusco; the endless scenic photo ops; and how common it is to consume the coca plant. (We mention the rest in this video!)
