San Jose
Costa Rican Art Museum
At the entry of downtown San Jose you can visit this paint museum. Rotating selections from the permanent collection together with temporary exhibitions showcase the artwork of painters and sculptors in a building that was once an airport terminal. The Sabana Metropolitan Park which stretches west behind the museum was formerly the international airport landing strip in the days prior to jet planes. Phone: +50-6-2227155

Museo de Arte Y Diseno Contemporaneo
The emergence of this new cultural institution has provided a space devoted to develop and expand the main tendencies of contemporary art and design in its diverse manifestations, both nationally and internationally.

Children’s Museum
This museum is located in a former prison. It brings science, culture and history to life (or at least nearly so through the use of robotized Costa Rican personalities).

Jade Museum
This museum exhibits a good Jade Collection. Also ceramics, stone and some gold miniatures are on display.

National Museum
The National Museum that was founded in 1897 and got itself a permanent home in which was the “Cuartel Bellavista”.

Gold Museum
This museum houses an extensive collection of pre-Columbian gold in which the level of artistry achieved by native craftsman working with this precious metal is easily appreciated.

Entomological Museum
This museum belongs to the University of Costa Rica. It exhibits the insect life of Costa Rica. It is located in the basement of the School of Music.

Museum of Natural Sciences
The collection shown on this museum is know to be among the most comprehensive in the world and it has been divided in four areas: Paleontology, Archaeology, Zoology and Malancology (mollusks). The museum is located southwest of La Sabana Metropolitan Park.

This museum exhibits portraits and items related to the Legal Sciences and the Supreme Court.
