The United States Agriculture Department has communicated to the Argentine Government its definitive authorization for Argentine lemon exports to the US, thus concluding the negotiations initiated on the occasion of the meeting between President Mauricio Macri and President Donald Trump at the White House last April and later resumed during Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to Buenos Aires.

Argentina will return to the United States lemons market after 16 years, having fulfilled strict phytosanitary requirements. Annual exports are expected to reach 20 thousand tonnes, amounting to USD 50 million. Opportunities for exports from the regional economies of the north-western region of Argentina into the Unites States are thus reinforced.

Argentina and the United States continue to hold talks to promptly grant approval to beef and lamb exports, as well as other items of interest such as sweet citrus fruit and other types of fruit.
