Sweet citrus fruit exports: Work meeting between the Argentine Foreign Mand the province of Entre Ríos

In the framework of the process of federalization of foreign affairs promoted by the Argentine government, a delegation from the province of Entre Ríos, headed by Governor Gustavo Bordet, held a work meeting with officials from the Argentine Foreign Ministry in order to coordinate actions to promote the presence of sweet citrus fruit from Entre Ríos in foreign markets.

The delegation, comprised of government officials and businesspersons from the sector, was received at the Palacio San Martín by the Secretary for International Economic Relations, Ambassador María Cristina Boldorini, and a team of diplomats.

At the meeting, Governor Bordet underscored the great importance of exports for the economy of the Argentine Northeast and, in line with the statements of chambers of commerce, expressed an interest in expanding markets for tangerines and oranges from Entre Ríos.

Secretary Boldorini, for her part, conveyed to the authorities and representatives of the private sector that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship is ready to work jointly and in coordination with the Ministry of Agro-industry and other government agencies. Additionally, she stated that the Foreign Ministry will follow up on any procedures required to find a place for Argentine products abroad again.

The Ambassador reiterated the firm decision of Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra to place Argentina’s more than 140 diplomatic and consular representations at the service of provinces, municipalities and companies across the country, in order to create specific business opportunities that strengthen regional economies. In addition, markets and insertion strategies were analyzed in order to direct pharmaceutical products from Entre Ríos to non-traditional destinations.
