Malcorra participated in FAO meeting in Rome and described Macri’s meeting with Pope Francis as “highly positive”

After joining President Macri on his visit to the Holy See, Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra participated today in the opening ceremony of the 43^rd session of the Committee on World Food Security of the FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization), in Rome.

Malcorra spoke with FAO Director-General José Graziano and visited an exhibition on Argentine agricultural machinery together with Argentine Ambassador to the FAO, Claudio Rozencwaig. Later, the Foreign Minister greeted scholars of the University of Rosario (Argentina) who participate in the Committee on World Food Security meetings.

Minister Malcorra also participated in the Mass of Thanksgiving offered by the Archbishop of Buenos Aires and Cardinal Primate of Argentina, Mario Aurelio Poli, held at the Altar of St. Peter’s Basilica. “Many fellow Argentines shared the joy of the canonization and spoke of a united Argentina,” expressed Malcorra through her Twitter account.

Asked in an interview on Radio Mitre about the meeting between President Macri and Pope Francis, the Foreign Minister stated: “It was highly positive. The President and His Holiness had a very rich conversation on issues of shared interest. They talked in depth about the plans that the Government is implementing —both infrastructure improvement and social plans. The conversation was deep and specific.”

“Many sectors thought there could be some tension, but in these matters there is a reality and there are perceptions. This conversation eliminated any perception in this regard,” she concluded.
