In the context of the visit by the Foreign Minister of the Federative Republic of Brazil, José Serra, to the Argentine Foreign Minister, Susana Malcorra, both ministers highlighted the fundamental importance attached by both countries to the full and harmonious development of their bilateral relations.
The Argentine Foreign Minister recalled the shared principles and values that underpin regional integration in MERCOSUR and reaffirmed Argentina’s intention to continue working within this framework with a view to fulfilling commitments, developing a common agenda within the bloc and carrying out joint negotiations with third countries and groups of countries, to achieve greater well-being for their peoples.
In this regard, Foreign Minister Malcorra underlined the need to perfect MERCOSUR and incorporate new disciplines into it, in line with the most modern integration processes, by promoting concrete advances in important matters on its agenda and boosting its external relations, both at regional and extra-regional level, especially in the context of negotiations with the European Union and other ongoing negotiation processes.
