The dramatic row between the Dutch government and Turkey has escalated. It is now emerging that Turkey’s Family and Social Affairs Minister Fatma Kaya will travel to the Dutch city of Rotterdam land, after the Dutch government revoked the landing permission of Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s plane. Kaya was due to address Turkish community members in the eastern Dutch towns as well Germany’s Cologne. The Dutch government has officially banned Cavusoglu from campaigning there for Turkey’s referendum next month. In retalition, Turkey has summoned the Dutch ambassador in Ankara to the foreign ministry. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also issued a sharp rebuke, saying that the Netherlands’ behavior was reminiscent of Nazism. He has vowed to retaliate.
