This relaxing walk starts from the town of Abcoude along the river Gein in a typical Dutch landscape where you will find many historic farms with cows and sheep on the meadows and of course De Oostzijdse Molen, a windmill from 1874 on the river Gein, which was used as a polder mill, The Fort bij Nigtevecht (Fort at Nigtevecht) from 1904, this fort is part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The walk then continues along the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal where many barges carry their cargo and further over the spectacular cycling and walking bridge over the canal to the quiet village of Nigtevecht where the walk ends.
