The CEO of a bank in Liechtenstein was shot and killed early Monday morning allegedly by another banker who had claimed the victim ‘destroyed his livelihood.

Bank Frick CEO Juergen Frick entered an underground parking garage at about 7:30 a.m. on April 7.

Frick was then confronted by Juergen Hermann, a man who had been engaged in a long-running dispute with Bank Frick and its CEO.

Hermann then allegedly shot Frick three times before escaping the scene in a Smart car.

Police later found the car parked around 25 kilometers from the crime scene.

Police sniffer dogs tracked the suspect’s scent to the banks of the Rhine River, where clothing items belonging to Hermann were found.

A confession note was also found in the car, leading police to conclude the shooter committed suicide by jumping into the river.

Police divers are searching the river and a nearby dam. The killing is the first homicide in Liechtenstein since 2011, a tiny nation of less than 37,000 people wedged between Austria and Switzerland.
