Sudan – Press release by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (15 April 2023)

France expresses its deep concern over the violent fighting which has been taking place in Sudan since this morning, and calls on the army commanders and Rapid Support Forces to do their utmost to end this fighting and prevent any escalation.

It is only by returning to an inclusive political process, leading to the appointment of a transitional government and general elections, that a lasting solution can be provided to this crisis.

France, alongside Sudan’s other partners, is ready to help bring an end to this crisis and promote a political solution.

The French Embassy in Khartoum and the Crisis and Support Centre in Paris are working to ensure the safety of French nationals.
