The Culture Night (Kulturnatten) is an annual event, during which cultural institutions and other organizations in Copenhagen welcome visitors and offer many different kinds of activities.

This year, Culture Night is Friday 12 October, and more than 250 cultural institutions will open their doors to the public. Including the Danish Parliament, where you have the opportunity to walk around the parliament on your own, and get to meet the Speaker and representatives from each of the political parties. The newly renovated Chamber is open to the public and so is the library and committee rooms.

The corridors and conference rooms are filled with masterly paintings and other works of art. On Culture Night, you get the opportunity to see the portraits of previous Prime Ministers and Speakers of the Parliament, and to get a sense of the cultural history of the Danish democracy.

Meet members and employees

Members of the political parties and committees as well as employees of the administration will be on hand to explain their work in the Danish Parliament.

You can meet the Parliament’s orthographic experts – the staff of the Folketing Hansard. They will demonstrate the speech-to-text software they use to transcribe the minutes of meetings in the Chamber. You also have the opportunity to meet the staff working in the Information Centre and in the EU Information Centre and get answers to all your questions about the Parliament and the EU. We are ready to welcome you with wheels of fortune, quizzes and our special parliamentary edition of the Jeopardy game.

Access

In order to access events on Culture Night, you need to have a Culture Pass. Culture Passes cost DKK 90 and are sold in 7-Eleven shops in Copenhagen and in libraries and cultural institutions around in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.

Queues

To gain access to the Danish Parliament enter via the main door at ground-floor level in the Parliament Square (Rigsdagsgården). You will have to go through a security check. As there are limits to the number of people allowed in the building at the same time, you may have to queue.

The Danish Parliament will be open from 18.00-24.00. Doors will close at 23.30.

Please note that on Culture Night, you can only pay with cash.
