U.S. COVID-19 Entry Requirements

Foreign nationals traveling to the United States must demonstrate proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.  More information about the vaccination requirements is available on the CDC page Non-U.S. citizen, Non-U.S. immigrants: Air Travel to the United States.  Answers to frequently asked questions about the requirements for international travel to the United States are available at Travel.State.Gov.

All individuals are reminded that their admission to the United States remains subject to a determination by Customs and Border Protection officers upon arrival at a U.S. port of entry.

Visa Appointment Availability

The U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen is currently processing all visa classes and offering as many visa appointments as resources allow.

Many visas can be renewed or applied for by mail without an interview.  Students (F and M visas), Student Exchange Visitors (Academic J visas), individual petition-based H-1B, H-3, L, O, P, and Q visas, and visa applicants renewing the same visa class within 48 months of expiration may qualify for interview waiver.  Visit our appointment website to see if you qualify to apply for your visa by mail.

Expedited Visa Appointment Requests

If you have a life-or-death emergency reason for travel to the United States and require a visa, please request an expedited appointment via our U.S. Visa Information Service website.

Visa Application Fees

The validity of visa application fee payments (known as the MRV fee) was extended until September 30, 2023, to allow all applicants who have been unable to schedule a visa appointment as a result of the suspension of routine consular operations and subsequent backlog to schedule and/or attend a visa appointment with the current paid fee.

Visa Extension of Status for Travelers in the United States

Travelers who are in the United States should contact the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office (USCIS) for questions about adjusting status or extending the authorized period of stay in the United States while physically present there.  USCIS has full jurisdiction over immigration matters for foreign citizens physically in the United States.
