Costa Rica Omicron Variant Jan 11th ’22 UPDATE Has Anything Changed?

#Omicron #entryrequirements #vaccinemandate ‘Costa Rica Omicron Jan 11th UPDATE Has Anything Changed?’ As Omicron surges around the world, Costa Rica included, what will Costa Rica do? Will they do a travel ban? Vaccine mandate to enter the country? Quarantine? So the following came out yesterday and I got to say, it doesn’t say much. I would expect more in the coming days.

Omicron as anticipated-

“With this in mind and after meeting to discuss what should be done, there will be new health and vehicle measures in place to curb the spread of infections starting Tuesday January 11.

From Tuesday, January 11 to Sunday, January 23, the nationwide night vehicle restrictions will be enforced between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

In addition, businesses with a health permit are allowed to be open until 10 p.m. from Monday to Sunday.

There will also be the following restrictions:

Bus service:
Standing capacity on buses, from January 11 to 23, will be lowered to a maximum of 20 standing passengers.

Large Public Events:
Cultural and sporting events will held without attendees or fans, otherwise they will cancelled or postponed. This restriction does not apply to cinemas, theatres, academic events or places of worship.

Working Remotely:

The public sector guideline will remain in place, except for essential services such as public service offices, regional offices and emergency care.

President Alvarado as well as other government officials are asking the private sector to work remotely during this time, if at all possible.”

Like I said, fairly general in nature and of no help if you’re thinking about traveling here.

As of now this is what Costa Rica requires for tourists wishing to enter-

For those who are vaccinated, you only need the ‘Health Pass’

1. Electronic epidemilogical Health Pass form can be found here- *Complete this form in the 48 hours before arriving in Costa Rica. **IF you are NOT vaccinated, you will have to buy your ‘Traveler Insurance’ first since the Health Pass asks for the policy number and such. This form produces a QR code that you will be asked to show upon arrival. **Be AWARE- Some airlines may ask for this at check-in.

2. Travel Insurance must meet these requirements and if you use an international policy you must present a letter stating: -Guaranteed coverage of medical expenses in the event of becoming ill with COVID-19 while in Costa Rica, for at least $50,000 USD. -Minimum coverage of $2,000 USD for lodging expenses issued as a result of the pandemic. -Validity of the policy throughout the planned stay in Costa Rica. **Costa Rica’s travel insurance policies tend to be on the pricier side, you can get cheaper, don’t use the CR insurance if you don’t have to.

👉Trawick International is an international policy that offers affordable prices that meet Costa Rica’s entry requirements. You can find them here- 👈 *Although I heard about these guys months ago, I have ZERO affiliation with them, so I can’t answer anything. Do your homework as there are plenty of insurances to choose from now.. If you want to make sure YOUR international policy meets Costa Rica’s requirements, go here and ask them- [email protected]

3. Proof (airline ticket OR BUS TICKET IN THIS CASE) that you are leaving Costa Rica within 90 days. NOTE: Tourist visas are typically good for 90 days but be sure your insurance policy matches the amount of days you want to stay in Costa Rica. *If you purchase a policy that only covers you for 10 days, you will not get stamped for 90 (they know this manipulation, don’t try it.)
