La Fortuna San Carlos Alajuela Costa Rica has finally been hit with the coronavirus. Our little tourist town of about 7,000 people, La Fortuna, has its first cases of Covid-19.
Costa Rica has dealt with the coronavirus pandemic as well as any country but still, some bad news as it pertains to taking a vacation in Costa Rica anytime soon. There’s a few things that need to be considered if you’re thinking about vacationing in Costa Rica sooner rather than later. But what if you’re thinking about actually moving to Costa Rica and making a life here. Is this a good time to travel to Costa Rica for that? Vacationing in Costa Rica and living in Costa Rica are entirely two different things. That is also holding true during this coronavirus pandemic. If you have been thinking of re-locating, moving and living in Costa Rica before the coronavirus became a thing, then this is still a perfect time to make your final move to Costa Rica. Supposedly the borders will open July 1st, that may or may not hold up. But for those of you thinking about making the move, it doesn’t matter, just come as soon as you can get an airline ticket and the borders here in Costa Rica do in fact open. You’re good. You will be the few who have the pick of rental properties on the cheap anywhere in Costa Rica, ditto buying property. In these economic times, it can be a win/win for both buyer and seller. But it definitely will be a buyers/renters market for many months yet to come. But as they say, the early bird gets the worm.

Vacationing in Costa Rica is entirely different. You need to wait before rushing down here on vacation. Give it some time. Borders open, airlines back to flying, hotels back to staffed, and the tours you want to do are up and running. It’s not worth rushing down here into the unknown of the near future post pandemic.
