New State and Countries Added Sept. 25th UPDATE Requirements?
Fly into Costa Rica Costa Rica has added to the list of countries and U.S. states from which it will welcome tourists/visitors in October. As of October 1, Costa Rica will add Ohio to its list of authorized states. California will also be welcome starting Oct. 1 The Buckeye State and California joins the following approved U.S. states:
Currently authorized: Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Virginia (and Washington, D.C.), Arizona, Colorado, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Washington and Wyoming.
2 more Countries were also added. Costa Rica added two more countries to its authorized list for October: Mexico and Jamaica. They join more than 40 nations, including Canada and those in the EU, whose residents are allowed to visit Costa Rica.

Requirements for tourists to enter Costa Rica
1.All people entering Costa Rica must complete the digital epidemiological form. This is known as the “Health Pass” or “Pase de Salud.” Click here for a link-
2. Tourists/visitors must acquire a negative PCR-RT coronavirus test. The sample for this test must have been taken at most 72 hours before the flight to Costa Rica.
3. Tourists must purchase travel insurance that covers accommodation in case of quarantine and medical expenses due to COVID-19. This policy can be international or purchased from Costa Rican insurers. The travellers insurance Travel Costa Rica NOW recommands, which is the bare minimum but does meet the requirements to enter Costa Rica. Here’s the LINK to the insurance- You can also talk to someone (in english) if you want but don’t have to. If you have any questions about the insurance, email our guy, Johnny at [email protected] ***it should be stated, if you don’t have insurance when you enter Costa Rica, you can still get it before passing thru immigration via internet (not recommended) just sayin.
4. Tourists from the United States must demonstrate, via their driver’s license or State ID, that they live in one of the authorized states.
5. You need to show a return ticket within 90 days. There are no 1-way tickets to Costa Rica, you must show you are leaving within 90 days. *Nicaragua & Panama land border crossings are not an option at this time. It has to be a flight.
These countries are currently allowed in Costa Rica- Germany, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Uruguay, Korea, Japan, Singapore, China and Thailand.
Requirements for citizens-
-Proof of citizenship (e.g. a cédula).
-A completed Health Pass form- Citizens will be issued a 14-day quarantine order. However, if a citizen comes from an authorized country/state and has a qualifying coronavirus test result, they will be not be issued a quarantine order.
