China and Argentina strengthen cooperation in the field of sports

On 14 September, the Chinese Minister of Sports and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Gou Zhongwen, visited Argentina to reaffirm China’s intention to cooperate with the Argentine Republic in the field of sports and reaffirm its willingness to receive technical support from Argentina for the development of football.

In the context of his visit, the Chinese Minister of Sports, joined by a large delegation, was received by the President of the Argentine Republic and then, alongside the Argentine Secretary for Sports, Carlos Mac Allister, headed the First Meeting on Sports Affairs of the Argentina-China Binational Standing Committee. Both meetings were also attended by the Undersecretary for Institutional Relations, Ambassador Tomás Kroyer, who is in charge of the coordination of sports diplomacy activities.

At the meetings, both sides agreed to move forward with a series of concrete actions which include the presence of Argentine football referees and coaches in China and the opportunity for Chinese athletes to travel to Argentina to participate in training programmes in its High-Performance Sports Centres.
