The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship and the Argentine Agency of Investment and International Trade (AAICI) have announced the appointment of Carlos César García Baltar as the Agency’s Director General for International Affairs.

García Baltar will join the team led by Juan Pablo Tripodi, alongside Alejandro Wagner as Director General for International Trade and Pablo Tarantini as Director General for Investment.

The appointment is part of a new strategy jointly devised by Ministers Francisco Cabrera and Jorge Faurie to further boost trade and investment projects that create more and better jobs.

In that regard, it is announced that the first regular meeting of the AAICI Executive Committee will be held in September, headed by Minister Cabrera and including Minister Faurie, the Secretary of Trade, Miguel Braun, the Secretary for International Economic Relations, Horacio Reyser, and the Agency’s Chief Executive Officer, Juan Pablo Tripodi.

“We are focused on carrying out joint work between the Foreign Ministry and the Agency, alongside Argentine representations abroad, in order to provide our representations with business intelligence tools and become a powerful distribution channel to increase exports and investment,” stated the Secretary for International Economic Relations, Horacio Reyser, highlighting that García Baltar’s incorporation is very positive.

Along those lines, Juan Pablo Tripodi expressed his satisfaction at the official’s incorporation into the work team. “Carlos’ experience in the field of trade promotion as well as his thorough understanding of the network of embassies and consulates around the world will prove essential in our mission to help businesses unleash their full investment and export potential,” he explained.

Before his appointment to the AAICI, García Baltar served as Consul General in Porto Alegre, where he actively sought to promote our country as an investment destination and  to strengthen the internationalization processes of exporting SMEs. Throughout his long career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, García Baltar also worked at the Directorate for Mercosur of the Undersecretariat for Economic Integration with the Americas and Mercosur, and served as Deputy Consul General in São Paulo, as Head of the Economic and Trade Division of the Center for Promotion of the Argentine Consulate in São Paulo, and as Director for Trade Information and Head of Chancery of the Argentine Embassy in Portugal, among other positions.
