On April 18, 2017, the River Plate Administrative Commission, pursuant to the guidelines agreed on by both Governments through the Diplomatic Notes dated November 26, 2016, approved the Bidding Conditions for the River Plate Administrative Commission to Contract Deepening and Maintenance Dredging Services for the River Plate Channels between km 37 (Barra del Farallón) and km 0 of the Uruguay River.
This is the beginning of a long-delayed work which will have an economic impact on both margins of the River, thus improving safety, enabling larger vessels to navigate and reducing navigation time and freight costs.
The works will be carried out through the International Open call for bids in which the most qualified dredging companies will participate. The bidding conditions are already published on the River Plate Administrative Commission’s website, and sale to interested companies will begin on Monday 24 April.
The purpose of the call for bids is to contract deepening dredging services for the River Plate channels located between km 37 (Barra del Farallón) and km 0 of the Uruguay River at 34 feet from the mean low tide lower limit tidal datum on hard bottoms.
A second stage will consist of the necessary maintenance dredging to keep the channel’s 34 feet depth.
